March 10 2009

Hello Family and Friends,
This week you will find us at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson. It was just dumb luck that we arrived during Heritage Days which is a time when they fly the newest planes in formations with some of the oldest ones they have restored on base. It has been turely impressive! Another impressive thing here is they fitness facility. They must have at least one of each and every type of exercise equipment known to man, and there is never a wait to use any of it. The entire facility is immaculately clean and well run. Just a joy to go work out.

Next we head to Gilbert Ray; it is a small campground in the Saguaro National Monument area. It is so quiet and will be a welcome reprieve! We will stay there for about 4 days or so while we visit the National Monument and the Desert Museum. I had hoped to catch the desert in bloom for photography purposes but we are too early and they have not had enough rain down this way to cause the superior blooming of the desert. I guess I'll just have to come back and try to photograph the flowers another year...Then we head off toward Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca and Tombstone. We are also hoping to see Kartchner Caverns as well.

Please know that we are safe and having a wonderful time down here in the warm Arizona winter. We got a phone call today from a friend telling us that it rained and then snowed 4-6 inches last night causing a icey mess for everyone this morning. I thought how lucky we are to be able to miss that this year!

Today we worked on getting the solar panels installed onto the roof of the motor home. Next Erick will work on getting them wired in so they can charge the batteries and we won't have to use the generator.
